I Am Thankful: Easy Piano Composition with Rhythm

by Kristin

colored piano composition worksheet for kids

Teach or reinforce rhythm with this free piano composition worksheet for beginners.

Most of the song uses quarter notes. At the end of each line, kids can choose what rhythm to use. If they are thankful for a one syllable word, they choose the half note. If they’re thankful for a two syllable word, they choose the two quarter notes.

See the preschool version for more instructions.

Optional: Choose one of the easy beginner scales and compose the song around that scale.

For example, if you choose the C scale, you can use any key from that scale. Great experience for budding composers!
