Piano Magic Sneak Peek

great detective song

The Great Detective Song

This activity is sure to be a hit! Kids love the way this song sounds. You can point out to your students that the left hand is simply using a descending minor scale to create that mysterious sound.

This one does require some coordination, so if students are having a difficult time playing with hands together, just break it into a duet. Teacher plays the left hand part in steady rhythm while student improvises a melody, and then switch.

You can even extend the fun by asking kids to think up a mystery and then draw a picture of what happened. Some students are better able to improvise when they can visualize a complete picture of what they are trying to portray through music.
